Mardi Gras is one of our favorite times of the year in the gulf south. For families, the coast is a particularly nice place to be, as most parades are family-friendly events for all ages. Here’s a list of parades for Mardi Gras 2014. Mark your calendar now so you won’t miss your favorite!
Lizana Mardi Gras Parade
Family-oriented parade with 30 floats. Begins at Lizana Elementary School at 1 p.m., rolls down Cable Bridge Road, goes north on Moran and finishes where it started.
Carnival Association of Long Beach Parade
Family-friendly parade in downtown Long Beach. This night parade begins at 6 p.m.
Krewe of Nereids Mardi Gras Parade
Look for the best throw of the parade: a Nereids poster! Begins at Drinkwater & Hwy. 90 in Bay St. Louis, ends at Auderer St. in Waveland. Begins at 1 p.m.
Ocean Spring Carnival Association Parade
Parade through downtown Ocean Springs. Night parade that begins at 7 p.m.
Krewe of Gemini Day Parade

North Bay Association Mardi Gras Parade
70-unit parade. Begins on LeMoyne Blvd. in D’Iberville and rolls to Central Avenue. Begins at 1:30 p.m.
Pass Christian Mardi Gras Parade
This one can get rowdy and sometimes inappropriate on Hwy. 90, so consider bringing children to other part of the route. A HUGE parade with tons of throws, it begins at 12:30. Starts at corner of Davis and Second in Pass Christian, goes to Scenic Dr., then west on
Henderson, north to St. Louis, east to Church St., south to Second St., and then (whew!) east on Second to Davis.
Krewe of Gemini Night Parade
60 floats in a night parade through downtown Gulfport. Starts at 5:30 p.m.
Krewe of Diamonds
Parades through downtown Bay St. Louis beginning at 1 p.m. Formerly called the “Krewe of Real People.”
Gulf Coast Carnival Association Mardi Gras Parade
104-year-old parade, this is the Gulf Coast’s largest. Parades through downtown Biloxi beginning at 1 p.m.
